With on-site dining, picnic areas, lockers and pram storage and gift shop, you can plan a full day of discovery at Early Start Discovery Space.

Cafe

The onsite café, Ugly Duckling*, provides delicious and healthy food options with an excellent children’s menu, great coffee and special treats. You can enjoy a meal in the café itself or order and enjoy your food in the Discovery Gardens.

The Ugly Duckling will be closed on Monday 27 January 2025. We recommend and welcome BYO food and drink to enjoy in our Discovery Gardens.

Parents’ Room

With a 5-star rating from the Australian Breastfeeding Association, our Parents’ Room provides a comfortable, quiet place to breastfeed, bottle-feed or express milk privately. It features:

comfortable chairs
multiple curtained-off feeding areas for privacy
nappy change bays
hot and cold water
a microwave

We support breastfeeding mothers and encourage you to feed your baby wherever you are most comfortable, including within the Discovery Space itself.

Accessibility

The Discovery Space is fully accessible for wheelchairs and prams with ramps, wide hallways and dedicated bathroom facilities. There are lifts available from the members’ car park and throughout the building itself.

Lockers & Pram Storage

Lockers are available to use FREE of charge, so you can safely stow your valuables and enjoy the Discovery Space hands-free. We also have a pram parking area, near the lockers. All items left in these areas are at the owner’s risk.

Picnic areas

The Discovery Gardens is our designated eating area. Picnic tables and chairs are provided so you can enjoy this tranquil space with your family. You may bring your food and drink for a picnic or take advantage of the café, which is accessible from the Discovery Garden. The campus also has many lovely grassed areas nearby that are perfect for a picnic.

Gift Shop

Here you’ll find a world of educational gifts, sensory toys and unique baby products. Our Gift Shop has a reputation for stocking hard-to-find gifts for all ages, with locals coming to the Discovery Space just to browse the shelves.
